Erdem x H&M campaignAcclaimed photographer Michal Pudelka has created a unique series of images for the ERDEM x H&M print campaign, playing with the idea of family portraits. The evocative images were taken during the shooting of Baz Luhrmann’s short film for the collaboration where super models joined the actors in a series of group shots, adding an extra dimension to the ERDEM x H&M world.

“We thought it would be great to do a modern take on classical family portraits, creating characters in ERDEMS’s world. The ERDEM x H&M collection really spoke to me, and the working process felt authentic and creatively charged,” says Michal Pudelka. The campaign stars super models Saskia de Brauw, Imaan Hammam, Grace Hertzel, Fernando Cabral, Neels Visser and Tony Ward. They are joined by actors Ruby Dagnall, Tom Rhys Harries, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Harriet Walter.

New adidas sneakers made from ocean wasteAs part of its long-standing collaboration with environmental initiative Parley for the Oceans, Adidas has updated one of its classic shoes from the 90s and made it eco-friendly. The initiative aims to stop plastic that’s entering the ocean, and retrieves waste from beaches and coastal communities in the Maldives. The waste products are then turned into yarn and get knitted to construct the shoe’s upper.  The updated sneaker which was first designed in the 90s, now features a two-tone upper, which has been knitted from yarns made out of up-cycled plastic, creating a wave-patterned stitching and it’s available in two color combinations: dark navy & blue, and white & turquoise. Its molded heel counter is made from recycled plastic, while the outsole is made from recycled rubber. The Parley EQT is the latest in a series of products to come out of the longstanding collaboration between Adidas and Parley for the Oceans. The first Parley Ocean Plastic trainers were presented during an event at the United Nations headquarters in New York in July 2015, when the shoe was still a prototype. The Parley EQT Support Adv sneaker costs $160 and it is available online, here.

Gucci is going fur-free from 2018Just a few days ago, it was announced that the house of Gucci, has decided to go fur-free, from 2018 and on. Gucci used to use fur a lot in the past, but the new decision is part of the brand’s new 10-year ‘Culture of Purpose’ sustainability plan. The brand also made a commitment to contribute one million euros to UNICEF’s Girls’ Empowerment Initiative. Gucci’s CEO Marco Bizzarri made an official statement about this decision: “Gucci will no longer use, promote or publicize animal fur, beginning with its Spring/Summer 2018 collection. As a commitment and thanks to a long-term partnership with LAV and The Humane Society, Gucci joins the Fur Free Alliance, which focuses on the deprivation and cruelty suffered by fur-bearing animals both in wild trapping and industrial fur farming.”. LAV is an Italian animal rights organization, and these are very good news. All remaining items with real fur on Gucci’s website, will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go towards LAV and The Humane Society. Gucci is not the first house to ban fur from their collections, since Armani, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, were some of the first to do it before them.

Angelina Jolie stars in Harper’s Bazaar November 2017 issue 1

Angelina Jolie charms in elegant looks for Harper’s Bazaar Us November’s issue. The photoshoot took place at a Namibia wildlife sanctuary.  She wears a Ralph Lauren Collection dress and K. Jacques sandals on the cover. Her costumer also chose designs from designs from Dior, Gabriela Hearst and Atelier Versace. The famous actress emphasises in importance of saving endangered animals. Moreover, she mention that fashion have been a major factor in encouraging the demands for clothes, jewellery or objects made from wildlife parts. Now, it’s the time for magazines to send a different message: that wild animals belong in the wild, and ivory is not beautiful unless on the tusk of a living animal. It’s up to us to break this endless circle. As usual, her speech is inspirational and we couldn’t agree more with her.
