Meet the bloggers | Get a loca life
Athanasia and Maria are the girls behind Get a loca life. These sweet girls come from Thessaloniki and make our day with their inspirational fashion posts. However, when they talk about beauty, I love them even more. If you visit their blog, you will notice the quality of their work. Besides, their love for writing is so obvious and that’s why they managed to gain a big audience really quickly. I’m glad about today’s interview because we have the chance to get to know these adorable girls a little bit better!!
1) Stylishly Beautiful Team (from now on SBT): Tell us a few things about yourselves.
Athanasia: I have a degree in Greek Philology to always remind me how much I love Greek language and literature. In my free time, I love occupying myself with DIY projects or going to the gym. I never say no to good food, vintage places to hang out and post-modern retro music.
Maria: I have a degree in Greek Philology and a master’s degree on Special Needs Education. I’m addicted to chocolate and traveling. I’m that kind of girl who was born and raised among books, but I also adore having a glass of wine at a central bar in Thessaloniki.
2) SBT: How did you come up with the idea of creating your own blog?
Because of our degree, we really like reading and writing our own articles. One day, we decided that it would be nice to share our thoughts with others. We would like to express ourselves through a variety of topics as we are two people with different interests and opinions, a fact that makes our blog more interesting.
3) SBT: What inspired the name of your blog?
It was a spontaneous decision and our goal was to express our blog’s style and a variety of subjects. “Get a loca life” is a wordplay of the phrase “get a life” which means “get your own life”. We want to encourage everyone to live an outstanding life which will be a little bit “loca”, in other words crazy and special.
4) SBT: Which is the beauty product you cannot live without?
Athanasia: I really like my eye pencils. I use blue and green shades on everyday basis and I prefer a classic black one for my formal occasions or nights out.
Maria: I love my moisturizing cream. I have tried a lot of them, depending on my skin’s needs and I carry it with me every time. I never neglect using it.
5) SBT: What are the three must-have nail polish shades for this fall, in your opinion?
We may choose intense colors for our manicures in summer, like turquoise or pink, but in winter we prefer warmer hues. We suggest shades of burgundy, blue and our favorite black.
6) SBT: Which are the 5 key pieces, in your opinion, everyone should have in their closet?
Athanasia: Even though girls like shopping a lot and usually end up with some pieces we don’t really need, there are other versatile ones that are always useful. For me, these are a pair of jeans (boyfriend or skinny), a hoodie with a cool logo, an oversized and cozy sweater, a dress in neutral shades and a pair of oxford shoes which are very beautiful and chic.
Maria: Well, it’s a fact that women’s wardrobes are usually a mess. However we can always be well-dressed, even if we use a few pieces. A pair of jeans which flatters your body type, casual tops in earthy shades that can be combined with a variety of accessories to achieve many different styles, a loose cardigan, a little black dress and a pair of black high heels.
7) SBT: Which is your favorite fall fashion trend;
Athanasia: As I already said in my previous answer, my favorite fashion trend this Fall is oxford shoes. They have a modest elegance that can easily change a style. I’m glad that this trend is acknowledged at last.
Maria: I love matte lipsticks in red warm shades. They are sexy and chic at the same time.
8) SBT: Out of all of your topics, which is the one you mostly love writing about?
Athanasia: I love writing about fashion. Looking for trends, fashion news and sharing my excitement with the girls who read our blog is one of my favorite things.
Maria: I think writing about celebrity gossip is the funniest of all.
9) SBT: What are your future plans/dreams?
Our future plans are optimistic even though things in our country are mainly gloomy. First of all, we hope to be healthy and after that to become better persons and improve our blog to get a bigger audience.
10) SBT: Our final question is: Tell us a few things we may not know about you.
Athanasia: I really love creating lists. I like organizing everything so I can have things under control. This can’t work every time so when something unexpected happens I’m usually stressed a lot.
Maria: I’m a very spontaneous person but this is either a too good or a too bad thing!
