Meet the blogger | Fashion Royals
It’s George’s turn today, another member of the Stylishly Beautiful Team, to introduce himself so we can get to know him and his blog better.
1) Stylishly Beautiful Team (from now on SBT): Tell us a few things about yourself.
George: My name is George and I study at the department of Urban Planning and Regional Development at the University of Thessaly-Volos. Along with the uni, I spend much time on my blog named Fashion Royals which is about fashion and personal style. Also, I travel within Greece to attend multiple fashion events such as the AXDW (Athens Xclusive Designers Week). I hope someday I’ll be able to attend events abroad.
2) SBT: How did you decide to create your blog?
George: I was always paying attetnion on what to wear and I was very selective with the clothes I was about to buy. Over the past three years I started to spend more time readng about fashion and watching some catwalks and when I was in High School I decided to start my own blog. I had aleady uploaded some of my looks on Lookbook.nu, but having a blog is like having a business and has nothing to do with a social networking site. So, after a year of preparation the first post went up, available for reading!
3) SBT: What inspired the name of your blog?
George: That was the hardest part at the beginning. I didn’t now how to name it, until one day, ,I turned on the radio and Royals by Lorde was playing. This song was the main inspiration for the name of my blog.
4) SBT: Which are the 5 key pieces, in your opinion, everyone should have in their closet?
George: I think we should originally have a white t-shirt, a pair of jeans, a white shirt, a coat for the hard days of winter and a pair of sporty-like shoes.
5) SBT: How would you describe your style?
George: I would describe my style as preppy, as I could really wear a shirt almost every day. Generally, I don’t have many sporty elements on my looks since I prefer being a little bit “dressy” in my daily life. Now you’ll ask me how I dress up to go to the gym. I’ll answer: I’m wearing sporty clothes at the gym, but I change clothes after workout as I don’t feel comfortable in these.
6) SBT: What would be your advice to a boy who wants to look stylish?
George: In my opinion, simplicity is the key for a successful elegant look. The clever combination of basic pieces and therefore the proper styling is everything you need to achieve stylish appearances. The cloth must me “worn by you” and not “wear you” by itself. Your clothes must be highlighting your body type and appealing to your personality.
7) SBT: What’s “blogging” for you?
George: Currently, blogging for me is a hobby and a way out of my daily routine. I hope and pray it will be evolved someday and become something more than a way to spend my free time. I’ve met people who have the same interests with me through it and have exchanged opinions with many of my “colleagues”. I could not think of my life without blogging, for now…
8) SBT: What would you advise someone who wants to start blogging?
George: I would say to him/her that blogging is not as easy as it seems; I’ve been spending countless hours in front of my computer and my tablet since the day I started. Also, he/she cannot be sure from the beginning if his/her blog will become successful and should be cautious so as not to waste their time with no reason.
9) SBT: What would you say is the best and the worst part of blogging?
George: The best part is that it might have been a while since you started, but you’re still anxious to show your next outfit post to the public and share your opinions about this. Also, you get to meet special people, bloggers or non-bloggers, not only behind your computer screen but also face to face.
The worst part is the red eyes after long hours of work in front of the computer and of course the negative comments that may sometimes be coming of people close to you (oops!). In my opinion, if you love what you’re doing, you keep being fierce and not easily affected by these comments.
10) SBT: What are your plans for the future?
George: My future plans are to graduate from the University and then work in the fashion industry by turning my blog into a profitable business, or as a fashion editor.
10 + 1) SBT: Our final question is: Tell us a few things we may not know about you.
George: I’m addicted to shopping, all my savings go to clothes, shoes and accessories in general and I have nothing to wear all the time. I also like exploring unknown aspects of my city, that despite having lived here for so many years, I still didn’t have the chance to discover. When I see something really beautiful, be sure that it will be uploaded on my Instagram account (yes, I admit it, I’m Insta-addicted!).
